Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" - Yulia Timoshenko
Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles".

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.

In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.

http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/p1_project_en.html The preliminary cost of this sculpture is 1.5 mln. Euro.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

Nicolai Shmatko estimates this sculpture in 500 thousand Euro.

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.

Hi all

Just joined the other day so I thought I'd introduce myself.  My name is Johoanna and I live in Orange (west of the Blue Mountains).  I'm a mixed media artist and writer.  Below is a spread I've done in an altered book.  Comments are encouraged and appreciated.  Thanks so much.

Looking for a venue
Hi everyone,
My band is playing in Newcastle on Saturday 25th August, and we are also thinking about playing in Sydney while we're in NSW.
So far there's been no luck, the venues are no longer looking for bands.

Was wondering if any of you know (perhaps through the people you know, or where you work) of any places that could slot us in on the bill for Friday 24th August?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bruno has been found!

I just wanted to say a big thankyou to anyone who helped me find Bruno and for all your kind comments.
Bruno has been found, and he is now safe at home!
Our neighbour's neighbours actually stole him. Me and my Dad were checking out the construction site next door to see if could've gotten trapped in there, then we heard this meowing coming from next door. So we crept along the side of there house and our cat appears at the window, very frantic and meowing like crazy and clawing the window trying to escape. So I tried all the windows and the doors and they all appeared locked. Nobody was home (obviously) and my dad went back up to ours to msg our neighbour who's a cop. I was not going home without my cat so I tried one window one more time and it just opened! So I grabbed my cat and ran home screaming "I got him I got him!"

He's very thin, I think he's been starved for about 5 days. All he wants is non stop cuddles and attention! I'm so happy we found him!

Attention all people who live in the shire!
My little kitty has gone missing from our home in Jannali (next to the field next to the high school, down from the community college) =[ He's a very much loved cat and if you live around Sutherland Shire and you think you might've seen him let me know okay?? Or if you live anywhere in Sydney you can keep your eyes pealed too! My email is caramello_camilla@hotmail.com

Answers to "Bruno" (so if you see him make sure you call him!)
Male, desexed, microchipped, registered, but he does not have a collar.
Kind of on the small side. Scared of cars, slightly afraid of strangers.

cut for pics of himCollapse )

Gym question
What's considered a "good" weekly price for a gym? I haven't been an active gym-goer for almost ten years so I'm pretty behind the times

I'm not gonna touch any of the big name places cause all I hear about them is how they trap people with contracts and soforth

EDIT: Preferably in the Parramatta/Blacktown area

Hi guys, just found this site and looking forward to chatting about arty stuff here! Just though I'd let any Sydney-dwelling dark-alternative types know about the Sydney Gothic Stitch and Bitch group

We meet up roughly fortnightly, and are having a picnic at Under the Blue Moon (gothic festival)

Would love to have some new members!

PC Problem
Ok this one is a little weird... I had a problem originally with the Microsoft "Power Toys", most specifically the power switcher wouldn't allow me to change programs via alt+tab. I unistalled it and now every there works fine

But now I've noticed that nothing happens when I try to select something on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. The taskbar for the program just flashes (similar to having received a msn message) and that's it. It doesn't actually select the program I want. This is particularly annoying because I have winamp docked at the top of my screen and half the time it won't allow me to select that either

I've tried everything I can think of and still no luck

Anyone know what might be up?
